Pumpkins and our little Pumpkin

Last year Rick planted pumpkins on the hill behind our house and the deer pretty much destroyed them and we were not able to get any nice ones. This year, much to our surprise we had two or three volunteer pumpkin vines in that patch and were able to protect them from the deer with the electric fence. This weekend Rick got the ripe ones off the vines and we showed them to Vivian. She approves.

At first she was not too sure what was going on. Pumpkins are pretty comfortable to lean back on though. Actually we were treading that thin line between nap time and wanting to stay awake with Daddy, so it was sort of challenging getting many smiles out of this kid.

She was really into the texture of the pumpkins. She is a regular pumpkin inspector.

Of course she had help checking out the pumpkins - her Daddy. She was curious and he was proud of his crop. So far we have four pumpkins and are hoping to get more.

And any good pumpkin inspector needs to take a break and reflect on the day. Here she is standing up in her wagon - do not worry, she is actually pretty sturdy when she is standing still.

After taking in pumpkins, Vivian and her Momma took the wagon for a spin around the yard. By this time she was getting pretty sleepy, so we will have to wait for those flower shots (ones where she is happy and such), but these were pretty neat. She was excited to go for a wagon ride and held on to the sides really good.

Here she is checking out the cat who tagged along for the wagon ride and sat just out of her reach.

Here is one of my favorite pictures from the day (even though we had way too many shadows). I just love the look on her face - like she is thinking about everything that has happened during the day as she is getting ready for....

A nap. Needless to say this was our last picture of the session and our next stop was a nap. She was a good sport and all three of us had a great day.

Great pictures. Be sure to get plenty more when you carve those pumpkins~~I bet Vivian will love that, too. She is so cute and so interested in everything. By the way, thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a good one. Love, Nancy Lee

Wow, super pictures, I am not sure if Vivian is a natural movie star or if her Mommy is a natural with a camera. I say a combination of both. Ricky's stay in Charleston is on the down hill slide now. I'm sure all of you are ready for him to stay in the mountains.

Hmmm...you think deer can find pumpkins in like shoulder high weeds? My dad planted a ton of pumpkins for sophie but i'm afraid the deer are going to get them!

And Vivi looks adorable with those pumpkins! What's she gonna be for halloween??
